Surrender

By Gina Di Tullio

Verse

You run and hide,

To seek the truth,

Always found in awkward form.

Recycled illusions of you

Swollen skin absorbs the storm

The rock that smoothly cuts the wound,

Beckons your young muse.

See through the distortion,

It’s your mind that leaves you bruised.

Chorus

So when you can’t continue

living like you do, surrender.

And when you don’t trust ‘cause

abuse is your god, surrender.

When your divine is lost,

Put down your past,

And take back what was torn from you.

You’ve always had the key (be free).

You can surrender.

Verse

And I feel your screams of silent rage.

You’re talking to a wall.

Let it finally hear your voice,

So step up and make the call.

Reach out bravely now,

Strong and narrow the truth is might.

Let go, end the paradigm.

Break free and take flight.

Chorus

So when you can’t continue

living like you do, surrender.

And when you don’t trust ‘cause

abuse is your god, surrender.

When your divine is lost,

Put down your past,

And take back what was torn from you.

You’ve always had the key (be free).

You can surrender.

Bridge

A product of self-destruction

Inside the jail you’ve built

There’s so much more.

Just drop the shame and guilt

And embrace, ‘cause it’s your time to shine

So gather the strength,

Step free, and start to live.

Spoken

It’s taken you this long to realize.

And you don’t get here by chance.

You are exactly where you need to be at this moment.

Can you feel it? It’s time to let go.

So free yourself and surrender.

Chorus

So when you can’t continue

living like you do, surrender.

And when you don’t trust ‘cause

abuse is your god, surrender.

When your divine is lost,

Put down your past,

And take back what was torn from you.

You’ve always had the key (be free).

You can surrender.
